I am so ready for Halloween! One of my favorite holidays. Dressing up is my game, but Halloween let's everyone take it to another level. If only it was socially acceptable to dress up as a fictional character every day like in Japan. I've seen girls sporting frilly gothic Lolita dresses and curly pink hair in Tokyo, and people don't bat an eyelash at them unless they're a foreigner. You've got to admire the time, money, and effort that cosplayers put in to a costume.
This is one of two costumes, siding with the heroes here. The other costume is a little more on the dark side. I got the dress on Ebay. I made the tiara from two strips of gold ribbon, a piece of red foam, and red glitter. How is that tiara sticking to my forehead? Elmer's glue. Don't worry, it comes off easily. Peels right off. I wish I had white gloves, but you can tell what I am, right? I don't have red heels so nude heels will do.
Sailor Moon was most definitely one of my childhood joys. Cartoons in general. I still enjoy them in the form of anime. Of course, the variety that I enjoy now is a little more mature. Sailor Moon, along with Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh, was one of the first animes I was exposed to. (Does anyone remember WB17 cartoons? Anamaniacs, anyone?) I'm keeping up with Sailor Moon Crystal, the reboot of the original series. However, waiting for subtitled episodes to come up on Hulu is a little annoying. I've just paused watching for a little bit just so I can binge watch it all in one session. Rei Hino, aka Sailor Mars, was my favorite. She was the hottest. Like, literally. She has fire-based powers that will burn you.
I think I'll be dressing up until I'm wrinkly and gray. You can never be too old to watch cartoons and dress up as a fictional character. Amiright?
